when i started this post, it was going to be short but it ended up being long so i think it’s no longer an “interim” post at all, but another blathering idiot one like you are used to seeing.
i’ve been practicing with the video camera for my QUICKEN HOME LOAN commercial,
and just have to tell you that filming myself is about as kooky as anything i can ever imagine doing before and i feel as if i am failing miserably.
i assure you that this post is not to brag about making a video for quicken loans. not sure why i feel as if i have to preface this with that last sentence (that makes me a little crazy too). like we can’t talk about good things and positive experiences without someone getting mad about it and sending you hate mail. (notice i’m doing it anyway, despite that gremlin on my shoulder).
i’m a firm believer in doing the very thing that we are afraid to do, as i’ve earned huge rewards of personal growth for doing so. (unless it’s something like running in front of a train or some other type of personal injury to my self. although that one time i swallowed fire was potentially life threatening.)
see, i can write funny and i am funny in the person (i have references), but making a video of MYSELF that’s funny, sincere, and informative is proving to be a much harder task than i ever could imagine.
after i received the video camera from kelly, it dawned on me that i really had to produce something that is not only equally as good as the other videos but, it has to be better than any of the other videos out there. and by better, i’m not saying the other videos suck, i just want it to be FUNNY in addition to informative and sincere.
when i wrote the post about edwin and jason from quicken loans, it was straight from the heart. i still believe in fairy tales, santa claus, the tooth fairy, the easter bunny, and samhain.
for those that just tuned in to this blob, if i like something i will tell anyone within hollering and writing distance. i believe in spreading positive experiences as much as i can.
i’ve always been this way, starting out in high school, in 1985 when i wrote an article to the local newspaper about my music teacher (see clip below):
i had no idea in the world they would give a hoot that i wrote about them, much less to have them send me a video camera TO KEEP!
this may come as a shock, but i do not get paid to write this blob. i’ve had offers for nice jewelry and payments for linking to other sites to increase their google ranking. (after i checked into that, i realized that’s against “the google law”, and not something i wanted to participate in.)
maintaining my integrity is very important to me and i have no idea (without researching) what is allowed and what isn’t. if you are reading this and this is something you do, please don’t think i am making a blanket statement that you have no integrity b/c i realize there are varying degrees of this selling space and ads thing but i haven’t the first clue about any of it.
i know what you are thinking, that i SHOULD GET PAID and i would agree with you. i started blobbing b/c i’ve always wanted to be a writer and it is another practice that keeps me on the beam.
if you have any suggestions for me (aside from throwing myself off the highest cliff i can find), your input would be highly valued. (this means, i can’t pay you but i will value you HIGHLY.)
ok, so maybe i would pay you b/c i’m that desperate.
