i’m a little behind in getting this post out, but here it goes.
i recently made the acquaintance of a lovely woman and blogger over at rock and roll mama. she tweeted on twitter about meeting john elder robison in the human flesh and i had to respond b/c i am quite the admirer of mr. robison. if you haven’t read or heard of his book, you should probably give it a gander. and, as i’ve written before you don’t have to have asperger’s to read the book. john is a very prolific writer with ginormous heart. (i don’t even know what prolific means, but it sounds really cool.)
rock and roll mama left a comment that she had a PRIZE for me over at her blog. she didn’t use the word prize, she used award, but prize and award are similar to me. I LOVE PRIZES!
i was very touched that she thought of me when she was awarded this generous offering of a blog award. simply, there are some that *get* me and some that do not. i think r & r mom gets me and for that she should be inducted into sainthood.
when i got my first blogging award, i screeched with joy that SOMEBODY OUT THERE LIKES ME!!!!!!!!!!!
it took me some time to realize that other bloggers were getting awards too.
and even some other bloggers consider these awards heinous.
what i make of it is this. if someone follows your blog and starts up communication with you, that is a compliment. if that person keeps communication open and THEN GIVES YOU A PRIZE, that is flattering times a billion.
i’ve noticed there are some “real” writers out there that snub their noses to blogger awards and i see their point but i don’t think they should “dismiss” a person b/c they get a blogger award and it makes them feel good.
everyone has the right to feel good without a degree of measurement put upon it by those who snub. the snubbers have a right to snub whomever they choose and i don’t *think* i judge them for it, i just don’t think it’s very nice.
before i get too far out (too late) on my soapbox, i’m going to continue this gesture that rock and roll mama bestowed upon me and pass it on to five lucky people that i think are KICK ASS.
1. one wink-another person that seems to get me, so much that she’s agreed to be my future wife. in some ways she is like a bright shiny penny, the penny you want to keep b/c it’s special and makes you laugh. we met over on another blog, not realizing that we had another blog “in common”, the peevery. she and i hit it off very quickly. she’s nice to me and i love her.
2. uncouth heathen-every time i type heathen, i type heaven instead for some reason. this woman is awesome. i found her via a guest post she did on citizen of the month’s blog and SHE CAN BRING THE FUNNY. not only is she funny, she’s insightful, and thought provoking. lastly, she knows a whore when she sees one.
3. the bloggess-WHO can not love jenny? she and i “met” about two years ago when she was a part of “drama mama“. she’s currently part of the dynamic duo good mom/bad mom and her own place, the bloggess. so what if she killed amy sedaris, maybe amy needed killing? i know jenny doesn’t need ANOTHER award for her awesomeness, especially from a peon like me but i’m doing it anyway b/c she’s a home girl with a BIG HEART.
4. attitude of gratitude-i found scott in my early blogging days, and i never fail to get a little “something” when i read his blog. he’s a very talented artist, sexy, a good friend and an all-around bad ass. don’t touch him, lest you burn up in flames from his hotness.
5. last, but not least blaugra. i “met” her over at the peevery, in fact, i remember the peevery before there was a blaugra! that’s how long i’ve been a FAN OF THE PEEVERY. blaugra has a great sense of humor, she’s pretty, she’s a leo, and i really think she is super cool and i would totally kick it with her if we lived in the same town. if she’d have me that is.
if you are still here, i just want to thank rock and roll mama once again for her thoughtfulness. i totally think she kicks ass too! and, she’s pretty.
that is all.

“maybe amy needed killing?”
This is why I love you.
And seriously, this award made my day.
You rock, my sweet friend.

The names alone are worthy of award, starting with you, the Daily Piglet. Have you considered that the blogosphere is perhaps the first place where many of you got to pick your own names?
And look at the bizarre choices that emerged.
No Fred and Janes here, that’s for sure.
But will it translate to the real world? Which of you will be the first to name your next kid Anti-Wife, Sex Scenes, Bizzarritry, or Freaklet?
As you know, I picked Cubby before blogs, and I’m sticking with that name.

I’ve made fun in the past because I saw someone refer to themselves on Linked In as AN AWARD WINNING WRITER for such a thing.
But I love the genuine sentiment behind expressing an appreciation for other bloggers. So I think it’s sweet AND I make fun. ’cause that’s what I do.

Thank you very much!
I’ve started a special award tradition wherein I give $5.00 to a charity of choice from the lovely award-giver. It’s not much, but it’s all Janie will let me spend at once – so you just tell me where to send it and it’ll be on it’s way.

The Peevery? What’s that?
Did you look up “prolific” yet? It means the person produces a lot of whatever. Example: The Duggars are prolific breeders. Neilochka is a prolific tweeter.

i haven’t been “on” the internet for all day, i started reading some comments to my seestor and she was all like “yeah, i already read them you idiot”. i’m beginning to realize that not only is she a whore, but she’s a bitch too.
————————-
i have to follow-up the longest post in the world with the longest comment in the world.
one wink: not only do you already live up to it, but you can be rated as a “company gal” in the awesome department!
jenny: you are much obliged, and i know you’ll always still be “jenny from the block” and that is why you are loved far and wide throughout the land.
scott: you is one bad mutha. one bad sexy mutha!
john: it’s been too long that i’ve heard from you! thanks for stopping by. personally i’m “calling” the name freaklet for my own.
you blazed the trail long before the rest of us mere mortals, with cubby and my personal favorite “varmint”. i only knew of one other person that used that term, and he was aces too.
still waiting for you to pull through the carolinas on your book tour…
slack: if you made fun of that, i’m not sure i noticed (or would notice) b/c i think your heart is in the right place!
i like everything about you that i’ve been privy too on your blog and your world famous saturday night show, you are a very smart woman with a good head on your shoulders and i admire you immensely.
omg, can you handle that many compliments at once? of course you can b/c you are cool like that.
linsey: i can’t get over the overwhelming desire to put you in my pocket and carry you around to make me laugh and think thoughtful things all the day long. the $5 is genius and i do recall reading that on your blog. a great idea! st. judes children would be my choice, due to it being a favorite of my dads.
pm: i actually DID look it up (and forgot it quickly). i do recall your pronouncement of neil being a prolific tweeter. that must have been why i even “thought” up the word prolific b/c god knows i don’t just walk around thinking about words like that, much less use them in a conversation
the peevery is a wonderful gathering of talented writers that always bring a smile to my face. and, it’s solely responsible for breaking my heart into a million pieces.
xup: i have to tell you that i admire your blog tastes too and so very happy you visit AND leave me comments
!
my day is ending much better than it started. this is good.

You my love DESERVE this award as does everyone you gave it to. I love you just like a fat kid loves cake…even if I forget to tell you sometimes and just leave the room totally covered in frosting. Now I am going to run over and smack rock and roll mama for not telling me sooner that she met Mr. Robinson! I love him. His book helped me change the way I was able to relate to Bacon. That in and of itself was the GREATEST gift anyone could have given me!

Well, Piglet, thank you for this terrific prize. I’m not known for my timeliness and I’ve had my head in the mud lately. So I feel like a “cad” whatever that means!!!
Thanks for the recognition! Glad I met you too!! We will totally hang if I ever get to wherever you are or if you are in eastern PA. Until then – see you on the Peevery etc!
