a stellar day despite the near-fatal heat that surrounds our area.

August 6, 2008

this post brought to you from hell.

i refer to it as hell due to the high temperatures that make me think this is what hell would be if there was such a thing. personally, i don’t believe in heaven or hell as a separate place from here.

it’s gymnastics camp week, we got up at eight to get the boy ready and i took a shower (missed that shower completely yesterday) and drove him in.

i had to stop in at petsmart for cat food and crickets. i noticed the cat person was on duty and cleaning out the bins so i asked if i could come in and pet them and he said SURE! i was there for about an HOUR just loving up the kittens and their mommies, chatting it up with the volunteer. i am considering being a clean up volunteer during the week. he’s losing volunteers due to school starting soon around these parts.

since i’m not employed outside of the home, i figure i could do something like that once the boy starts first grade. i do plan on becoming employed (hopefully from home). not that i’m not already busy enough, perhaps something like that would center me to a place where doing too much doesn’t seem so hard?

due to the completely peaceful time i was having with the cats, i almost forgot that i had an 11am appointment in two towns over. if you can, i’d suggest you spend time with animals for some part of your day, b/c it’ll set your head on straight.

what i originally thought was a narrow speeding ticket escape,  was not an escapte after all.  the husband later pointed out that the po-po pulled the minivan in front of me, which means it was technically speeding first.   originally, i was thinking the mini van was going too slow for me, but since it was in front of me it had to have been speeding too.

there were coppers everywhere today pulling folks over.

for about a minute i felt responsible for that complete strangers speeding ticket. self centered much? one day i plan to stop thinking that anything bad that happens is my fault.

my husband was behind me in another vehicle due to us both having to attend this appointment,.  we took two cars b/c we really like to waste gas. why drive one car when you can take two?  especially with the gas prices, hoo doggie are we out of control or what?  me in my dad’s crown vic, husband in the durango truck.  we are pimps, yo.

in other returning stuff to the store news, i got a bonus by exchanging a pair of shoes i bought for the husband that were the wrong size.  this would have been the third trip to the store over the same pair of shoes.  turns out after today’s trip, it was worth my while.

by exchanging the shoes for the final correct size, i got a refund of $18 dollars due to a price reduction in the shoes.  i LOVE when that happens.

sure, $18 dollars isn’t a lot, and it doesn’t quite even out the $500 i spent on my corolla that is now un-drivable, but i felt really good about getting such a nice surprise.  that gratitude thing works ya’ll.

OH, I ALMOST FORGOT!

if you are on facebook, you should consider joining the “max appreciation group”. i’ve been listening to the bob and sheri show since before bob and sheri were even born.  max is the director of the world famous, syndicated radio show.  and?  he KNOWS STUFF.

callers ALWAYS ask, “who’s that guy laughing in the background”? why? b/c his laugh is unmistakeably awesome! in fact, if you can’t start your day with animals, you should be starting it with bob, sheri, max and super todd.
