i started writing a post about mommybloggers a few days ago. i swear i started writing it before i clicked on over to citizen’s crib.

this is further proof to me that we are all one big fat brain, billions of thoughts being transferred back and forth between humans and the miles that separate them. this isn’t the first time i’ve noticed it, it happens a lot. i’ll be thinking about something and then i’ll read someone’s blog about it, or hear something on the radio or television.

so, i was reading citizen’s post about mommybloggers, which was inspired by this women’s post about mommybloggers.

hopefully this won’t offend anyone, sorry if “it do” but i feel the need to write about it. not sure why, just do. i only recently realized why so many blogs have the same ads, and all sponsored by “blogher”.

if you read the queen of spain’s post, it goes into more detail regarding the revenue generated for “mommyblogging”. personally, i consider this SWEET!

i have no issue with people that are able to sell ad space on their blogs and receive income. i think it is amazing. i thoroughly enjoy not being held down by the man, almost as much as i like sticking it to the man. the years of control by big business, government, churches, the catholic church.

in fact, after reading the queen’s post i got a annoyed that advertisers are trying to hold the “proverbial carrot” over some heads. that is wrong, trying to control other people for your own personal GAIN IS WRONG.

when i need to research something, i usually turn straight to blogs. the reason i do this is i assume people were writing about stuff they like for the same reason i do, to be helpful. being the idealist that i am, i figured that i could trust a blogger’s opinion over an advertisement in a magazine.

i notice after reading the queen’s post, that i am a bit suspicious of product endorsements. i don’t want to be, but i am.

now here’s the part that might make someone mad, but this is not my intention. i’ve noticed that some (NOT ALL) mommy blogs all *sound* alike. meaning, it’s hard to know if i’ve actually closed my browser window and gone to another blog.

i am not making a statement that this is a bad thing, it’s just not something i enjoy. there is a place in the world for everyone, and everything. i don’t have to like all of it, and neither do you.

luckily we aren’t all robots. yet.

I think some of it is due to having similar experiences as mothers (I would assume there are some Universal Shared Experiences being a parent) but I think that there’s just a lot of similar, average, nonthreatening writing.

However – that is NOT particular to mommyblogging. I think there’s a lot of blogs, period, that sound like. A lot of people either don’t care to find their voice, are trying to sound like someone else, or are just…boring. But the brilliance of it is that we all have an opportunity to have something to say!

A lot of mothers are home and blogging is an opportunity for them to talk to other mothers — and that’s all they want to do, so many of their blogs sound the same. It is a free country — and more power to them. But as a unit, they are a power in this fake virtual world, so I don’t see any problem with talking about how their actions affect the blogosphere as a whole. If marketing, branding, and product-placement becomes too much a part of a blogging, it will affect everyone else — not just those who go to conferences sponsored by corporations. How will I know when to trust anyone online anymore when they talk about some product? It also creates a system of haves and have-nots that is too much like the real world.

slack: holla! i live in fear of having a boring blog, of which i’m sure sometimes it just is. that is reality. it is important for me to always remember why i started doing this in the first place. if things happen from that, then i know they are coming from a true and authentic place.

neil: thanks for stopping by, i hope my widgets didn’t growl or bite you. i like your insight, mainly b/c it seems to match mine. hee. seriously, i quite dislike the idea of big corporations trying to push people around. i see it starting with moby, creating his own brand and flipping “the man” off. i think “we the people” have the power in numbers to turn the bullies on their ears.

revolution anyone? where’s grampa when i need him?

Oh I know. I went to someone’s blog today and they were all “Here’s some pictures of dogs humping. I bet Hillary Clinton gives bad blow jobs” and I was all “Hey! That’s what I just wrote about!”

Turns out it was my blog. Still though, I know what you mean.
