test your knowledge with a sick and feverish 6 year old

March 3, 2008

well, i ain’t dead if that’s what you were wishing for.

my beloved son, jesus* is very sick. he started with a 103 fever saturday night and he’s been that way through today. i am ready to take him to the doctor for some good old fashioned blood letting.

i offered to try it here at home but he passed on that.

during his in and out of fever-dom he’s spouting his knowledge and frankly, it’s a little scary. his knowledge.

he’ll sit silent and then say, “i just counted to 200″, “i know what 5000 plus 5000 is”. he asked if i knew what a raccoon and an opossum have in common (they are both nocturnal animals that have tails). or, “mom i can spell cat, rat, like, you.” i asked him if he was missing school about now and he said yes. which is completely the opposite of when he’s feeling good. he likes school, he’s just not into getting up early. he comes by this naturally.

i love that boy more than he’ll ever know. that’s the hard part of being a parent, knowing how much you love them and they don’t even know. it’s unconditional and it’s the best kind of love with no reward.

now, throw up a prayer (or whatever it is you throw up–i’m not picky) for my little boy.

*that linked post; towards the end, my mother tells me that i treat him like he’s jesus christ. funny thing, she treats him the same way.
