for most of my life, i have been a nail biter. about 9 years ago, i stopped doing it for the very first time. i was afraid my nails would grow out crippled but they didn’t. they grew out pretty and strong. i come from a long line of nail-biters.
i started biting them again when i was painting our house after my dad died. they became dry and started breaking, so it made it easy to start biting them again. i bite my nails without even realizing i do it. that is sorta scary to me, taking an action with no idea of it in the forefront of my brain.
i’ve noticed that one of my nails is a bit yellowish. no other nail is discolored. the one finger that is yellowish happens to be my wedding ring finger. ah ha! coincidence? perhaps. the ring is a bit tight, or it was until i removed it with a lot of lube last friday.
behold the finger killer, and the damage done (indention where the ring was).
yesterday i noticed that the skin is peeling underneath the nail. i fear i may have caused some damage to the whole finger. it’s still swollen above the ring line.
behold the puffiness of the finger.
i recently read that david and tea have ring finger tattoos, and i like that idea. a lot. i mentioned it to the husband and he’s cool with it. his ring bothers him too but not for the same reasons as mine does.
the husband bought me a posey ring when we were in houston on our second installation job. the inscription on the inside of the ring is in french, “de m”amour soiez sure” which means “of my love be sure”.
i am considering using that inscription as our tattoos on the ring fingers. i am not a big jewelry person and i only like silver and platinum. maybe i can get a silver tattoo with the markings on the outside of the posey ring?
anyone out there have a ring finger tat? if so, i need to ask you a few questions.
or, anyone out there had a ring that was too tight? i have some questions for you too. first one being, “did your finger eventually just fall off?”
