on having the stitches removed (warning: graphic stitches picture)

July 13, 2007

around 15 days ago our son cut his thumb. he took a bottle out to the driveway and broke it on the driveway. his dad had just asked him to not take the bottle outside b/c in the event it breaks, he explained “you could get cut”.

i was on the phone during this part. where i came in was after our son did the deed he came running in crying and screaming and blood spurting from his thumb. he was screaming, “i’m sorry, i’m sorry, i’m sorry. i didn’t mean to break it. dad told me not to and i didn’t listen.”

i quickly got off the phone and said to our son, “i don’t care what you did; let’s take a look at that thumb”.

last sunday was the day to go and have the stitches removed.

right as we were getting ready to leave he asked no less then 9,432 questions on the 15 minute drive there. after asking many of the very same questions over and over i suggested that he ask the nurse and doctor when they joined him/us in the waiting room.

so he did. and they gave many of the same answers his dad and i had already given him.

he wanted to keep the stitches. so i kept them. they are wrapped up in a gauze bandage that i will put into a ziploc.

in addition, he made sure that i took many photos of the before and after so that he could show his adoring fans.
asked 9,432 questions prior to getting those stitches out to find out what it would be like
