a cat and a dog

March 30, 2007

these two? which would you pick to win in a fight?

if you said the cat (winnie), then you’d be correct.

winnie is our female cat that has no front claws. it doesn’t stop her from pounding the shit out of our dog (sunday) while growling that scary growl of a female.

it’s very entertaining to watch, and no one gets hurt.

sunday however, will protect winnie’s honor. she permanently scarred my sister’s dog maggie once when mag .was trying to get at winnie sunday jumped in the middle and brought forth the big scary teeth and noises.

when they are in our bed though, they are all about the love. how cool is that?

this bed gets a lot of action, it’s a “family bed.” at night, it sleeps two adults, two cats, one dog and a five year old (who stumbles down in the wee hours).

jobs i’ve had

March 29, 2007

i was tagged by scott for a list of jobs i’ve had in my life. i noticed that scott used dates, but there is no way i have that information easily accessible. not all of these are on my resume. in addition, many times i would work two jobs at a time sometimes three.

  • Yard trash picker-upper (about 7-ish, i started young.)
  • Freelance dog pen cleaner/Pet Sitting
  • Paper route girl
  • Babysitting (one of my regular customers were members of the motorcycle gang– the outlaws–never a dull moment in our hood.)
  • Washing dishes in a greek restaurant (don’t trust old-school greek men that like to sneak up on you in the freezer.)
  • Cleaned hotel rooms part time while living with my biological father
  • Right out of high school, my best friend at the time had a boyfriend that was a carpet and vinyl contractor. I spent a summer working for him, learning how to lay carpet and vinyl flooring.
  • Stocking shelves at a chain department store that was named Gold Circle. Today, it is known as Target.
  • Worked in the pet department of that same Gold Circle. Stocked shelves during the day, sold animals at night.
  • Part time job cleaning offices after hours.
  • Waitress/Hostess for Shoney’s Restaurant.
  • Worked in the shoe department at another chain store that is now closed, Upton’s.
  • Waited tables at a nice restaurant in downtown Charlotte.
  • Sales floor for a full service pet store.
  • Front Office Cashier for a closed construction supply store, Moore’s Building Materials.

The following were all with the same company over a span of 17 years. I did leave for a period of time to go back to school.

receptionist, accts receivable/collections flunky, field support (information technology, operations/software training), information system support specialist (software/operations training, information technology quality assurance/validation coordinator/project manager/conversion training

During my time away from the above company while in school:

  • Banquet server/Bartender (Omni Hotel, Southpark Suites)
  • Temporary work as an office assistant, accounts payable, accounts receivable.
  • Assisted a Christian Science Home Care nurse with her guests, kept her home cleaned, and occasionally babysitting for her three children.

These are my current jobs:

  • Distributor for a fruit and vegetable product (current)
  • Freelance for a small advertising agency (current)
  • Domestic Engineer (current)
  • Mom (current)

can spammers surgically implant?

March 29, 2007

for most of this week, the spam on this blog that wordpress catches for me is about dentists and insurance.

i haven’t emailed or posted about it, and none of the comments have discussed anything dental.

how does it know that i’ve been to our dentist twice this week and my husband once?

i think those fuckers must be watching me.

p.s. i am working on the “jobs i’ve had” tag (in my private science lab) and that is harder than i thought. there’s a lot of jobs that i’ve had.

stuff you need to know about

March 28, 2007

has anyone ever noticed there is an arrow in the fedex logo?

well, there is. and fedex is completely aware of it according to this interview with the designer.

don’t believe me?

just you lookit.

.

.

.

.

.

the interview was conducted by this guy. i’ve been reading this blog off an on since i discovered it on the be the boy blog.

the sneeze is one hilarious rainbow-colored-monkey-clown. (don’t tell him i said that. he doesn’t even know me so it could make him mad.)

some of my favorite lines from the sneeze blog:

from this post, “Holy crap AND shit.”

this post, “Fuck you, he’s four.”

and this post, “Clearly the tree is growing its own brain because it wants to communicate with me. “

this one is how i conduct all of my science experiments, “I haven’t actually tested this with too many trailers because it’ll probably prove how wrong I am. And a wrong theory is way less fun than an unproven, brilliant one.”

ok, one more, “P.S. Send photos.”

check him out, there are many more lines that could very well cause you to piss yourself. he’s funny every single day. and that my friends is why he must die. (hee, just kidding.)

field of dreams

March 26, 2007

after my son woke up this morning, he kindly requested that i turn on the tv. so i did. very quickly i tried to find noggin or public tv before he noticed his preferred type of show that involves some type of violence. he loves those shows and i desperately try and keep them from him before he realizes i’m scamming him.

luckily, there was a nice movie on. i wasn’t sure how long he’d enjoy it, but for a moment he seemed placated so i rolled over to close my eyes for just a wee little longer. the movie that he was so entranced by was none other than field of dreams. he watched it for almost half an hour.

when it was time for him to start getting ready for preschool, he was not pleased that he would be ripped away from the best movie ever. i had to swear on my grave that i would tivo it for him so he could watch it when he got home.

the boy gave me yet, another reason to be proud. b/c that is almost one of the best movies ever.

he completely forgot about it after he got home, he really isn’t a huge tv fan. he’d rather go outside and play than watch tv. even on the days when i would LOVE for him to give me a break by watching tv, he won’t. luckily, he prefers movies over most tv. b/c why? he dislikes those annoying commercials of course.

he seems so much wiser than his five years, it never ceases to amaze me.
